Missing Kaysar

I am so sad today.  My cat Kaysar got out of our home last night and we haven't seen him since.  We spent the night searching the neighborhood for him and all morning speaking with our neighbors.  He has just vanished in thin air.  I'm trying to stay hopeful that he will make his way home, but it's hard to not imagine all the things that could happen.  He's an indoor cat, and we haven't been living in this area for a year yet, I hope he isn't lost somewhere.
Although I love both my cats equally, Kaysar felt like my companion, that he had chosen me to be his person.  The first time I saw him I was buying our other cat, Jinx, his food from a store that also housed Toronto rescue cats up for adoption.  At the time Kaysar went by the name Skye, and he just came right up to me and when I bent to pet him, he jumped into my arms.  It felt like fate that we were to take him home because he was already set for adoption with someone else, but when they found out  that he had been sick as a kitten, they decided against it.  He joined our family instead.
Lately I have felt as though I haven't given Kays the kind of attention that he is acustomed to having because I have been so focused on my daughter.  Quinn-Estelle is one now, is into everything and I sometimes feel spread thin.  Now I have a lot of guilt and regrets and I just wish I knew that he was okay and I wish he would just come home so I can shower him with love and just hold him.
Home just doesn't feel the same without him.
The rooms feel empty without his presence.

  3. Hi - I follow your mother-in-law's blog so I just heard about Kaysar. I'm so sorry but you have every reason to hope. My niece had a young cat, Jack and went off to university last year and took him. She was living in a townhouse with 3 other girls and after about a month or so, he went missing. A door was left open and he escaped. He doesn't go outside and was in a new unfamiliar house and city. Britt and her friends looked everywhere and they put posters up all through their large complex. She looked every day for weeks and couldn't find him. She got several calls from her posters (Jack is a black and white tuxedo cat so pretty ordinary looking) and checked out every one. None were her baby. After 9 weeks, she was coming home on the bus one weekend (about 3 hours away). She got a phone call and the lady said she had just seen the poster. A cat looking like Jack had been hanging around the dumpster. Britt asked her to see if she could capture him and she would get a bus back as soon as possible. Well, when she got back - you guessed it - it was Jack! He was extremely thin and a little roughed up but otherwise fine. She got him checked out at the vet and her Dad came and got them. Jack doesn't attend university any more!

    1. Thank you Heidi. He is still not home but we are not giving up on him. I've hand delivered flyers to 400 houses in the area over the past few days. Am hoping someone finds him or he comes home soon!

  6. Oh honey, I am so sorry to here about your beloved Kaysar but hold hope in your heart. Many years ago we had a very similar situation and our cat went missing for 2 entire weeks. I was beginning to resign myself to the fact that we had lost him for good but one morning I opened the front door and there he was, sitting on the steps wanting in. He was thin and tired but had no noticeable injuries. The vet said other than weight loss, he was fine. We never learned what happened in those 2 weeks, but it no longer mattered.

Please don't be so hard on yourself. You are only 1 person and have only so much time to share. Cats are highly intelligent. I'm certain he understands. Sending positive energy your way.

    1. Thanks for your support Mina. It has been 9 days now. Everyone keeps telling me that it is relatively normal for a cat to go missing days, weeks and sometimes months, but he feels so far away.

    1. I appreciate that. My husband thinks he saw him in the neighborhood at 5am this past Saturday, but he ran away before my husband could get to him. This renewed my hope, but each day he is not home it weighs on me.
